Our Friends of Asfordby Captain’s Close are a very committed and enthusiastic team. Their fundraising events throughout the year enable us to enhance our provision for all children, including transport costs to cultural events, developing outdoor play, resourcing our library and much more.
Current Committee members are:
Janette Green, Chair
Samantha Smith, Treasurer
Hannah Johnson, Secretary
Events that we would normally run through out the year have included the main Christmas and Summer Fairs, weekly cake raffle, occasional after school sweet stalls, competitions, sponsored onesie/ dress up days, school discos, family fun events, and raffles. Funds that have been raised in the past have been used to fund the purchase of new Maths and English equipment and books for the whole school, the outdoor picnic tables, swimming pools upkeep, computer resources for teaching staff to use in lesson preparation, buses for the annual Panto trip, the Year 6 leavers trip and so on.
This last year Sept 20-present, we have provided the new starters with book bags, provided refreshments for the school MacMillan Tea Party and given every child a Christmas gift bag from Santa and his Elves.
Since September we have raised £931.00 from just the cake raffle and 2 sweet stalls alone!
Previous year’s events have raised the following funds:

Project for Fundraising
In 2020-2021, the FOACC team are raising funds for a new library
How to get involved
We have an active Facebook page: www.facebook.com/friendsofasfordbycaptainsclose, where we regularly share information, news and fun things. We have a general Whatsapp group where we discuss fundraising, ask for volunteers, organise events and where ideas can be shared. The committee members are all available for a chat in the playground or out of school, and can be easily approached about events and general information about us- will always be found on a Friday morning selling cake raffle tickets.
Getting involved could be done by helping to set up events, helping to run an event, helping with the cake raffle stall, joining the cake raffle rota, helping to sell other raffle tickets or general sales of goods, becoming a committee member, attending meetings (when allowed to hold them again), generally thinking of events and fundraising activities.
Thank you and Kindest Regards
Janette, FOACC Chair
