Celebrating Success

At Captains Close, we relish every opportunity to celebrate the many successes of our fantastic pupils. We believe that recognising effort, achievement and positive attitudes helps children develop confidence, resilience and a love of learning.

Each week, teachers nominate one child from their class to receive a Certificate of Achievement from the Headteacher for demonstrating fantastic achievement and an excellent attitude to learning.

In the final week of the Autumn, Spring and Summer terms, this becomes our End of Term Award, recognising pupils who have consistently demonstrated our school values throughout the term.

Any member of staff can nominate a child for inclusion in our Golden Book when they demonstrate our school values and expectations.

Children added to the Golden Book receive:

Our staff love recognising children who go above and beyond. Throughout the year, pupils may receive a postcard home celebrating outstanding effort, kindness, perseverance or achievement.

These special messages ensure that successes are shared and celebrated with families.

Our Sports Coach, Miss Parker, awards a weekly Sports Award to one child in every class who demonstrates an outstanding attitude, effort or sporting behaviour during PE lessons.

Award winners have their names added to the class trophy, which is proudly displayed in the classroom.

Children earn Dojo Points throughout the year for demonstrating our school values, positive behaviour and excellent learning attitudes.

At the end of each term, Dojos are transferred into the Dojo Bank.

The Dojo Shop opens several times throughout the year, allowing children to spend their points on rewards. We also encourage pupils to save their Dojos, as:
